I saw that you mentioned the old NASA pen vs. Russian pencil analogy in the article. I think you might want to read up on the history of the Fisher space pen, because it's a very good example of the kind of space commercialization you are trying to pull off. The pen was created by an American inventor without any NASA funding. He then sold his pens to NASA and the general public. I have also heard that the cosmonauts use them now instead of pencils, but you would know better than I if they do or not.
This forum encourages discussion on Space, Exploration and Life in general! I am an Astronaut. During my time at NASA, I flew on four space missions, most recently serving as the Commander of the International Space Station during Expedition 10, a six and a half month flight. At the end of 2005, I left NASA and currently work as an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and consultant. I also hold a distinguished chair professorship at Louisiana State University.
